Today, I tried casting my new mermaid bracelet design in gold pigmented resin. I then gave it an antiquing wash of black acrylic paint to bring out the details. I think the gold looks fantastic, and the details really pop! This medium can be frustrating to learn, but so much fun.

Hi,

I’m interested in your website. I sculpt with polymer clay as well. I’m looking to make molds of polymer clay cupcakes I create. I’m interested in resin casting but how do you replicate the colors of the wonderful polymer clay? Thank you.

Hi Liz,
Thank you. To replicate the exact color you want, is not easy. You have to buy a lot of different colored pigments, and mix them till you get the color your looking for. Just like polymer clay, the color is rarely the perfect color you need, just out of the package.
